10Solar software questions
Questions US solar companies ask us about Zoho
Permits, design tools, lenders, crews and cost. Got a question about one particular AHJ or utility? Bring an example job to the call.
What is the best solar software for a US installer?
The one that matches how your jobs actually move. Dedicated solar platforms are quick to start but hard to bend. Zoho is a broader suite we shape around your stages, so sales, permits, crews, billing and service share one job record. For most residential and commercial installers with more than one crew, that trade is worth it.
Can Zoho track permits and interconnection for each solar job?
Yes. We build a tracker on Zoho Creator that stores the AHJ, permit number, submittal and approval dates, correction rounds, the utility application ID and the PTO date on every job, linked to the deal in Zoho CRM. Coordinators work from one queue sorted by how long each job has waited.
How much does solar software on Zoho cost?
Zoho bills licences directly. Zoho One is $37 per employee a month when every employee is licensed, or $90 per user for a smaller group, billed yearly. Buying apps separately, Zoho CRM Professional is $23 per user, Zoho Projects Premium $4 per user and Zoho FSM Standard starts at $25 a month for 60 appointments, all billed yearly. What we charge for the build is fixed in a signed BRD before it starts.
Does Zoho replace Aurora Solar or OpenSolar?
Usually not. Those tools are built for roof modeling, shading and production estimates, and we suggest keeping them. During scoping we check what their API exposes, then bring the fields you care about, like system size and estimated production, into the Zoho deal.
Can we move from Salesforce, HubSpot or a solar sales platform?
Yes. We map your leads, deals, install milestones and documents to Zoho CRM stages and job phases, test the import on a sample of real jobs, and keep the old system read-only until you confirm nothing is missing.
How does Zoho handle milestone payments and lender funding?
Each job holds its payment milestones, for example deposit, install and PTO, along with the financing partner and the stipulations to clear. Reaching a stage can raise the invoice in Zoho Books or flag the draw request, so accounting sees what is owed without chasing ops.
Can install crews and surveyors use Zoho on their phones?
Yes. Crews use the Zoho FSM mobile app for their appointments, checklists, photos and customer signatures. Zoho FSM pricing goes by appointment volume, and its plans include users, so adding a crew member does not add a seat fee.
Does it work for commercial solar and ground-mount EPC projects?
Yes, with a different shape. Commercial and EPC work runs on Zoho Projects phases with subcontractor documents, procurement and a longer interconnection track, while Zoho CRM holds the opportunity and the customer. We plan those builds per project type rather than reusing the residential setup.
Can Zoho run our O&M and service contracts after PTO?
Yes. Zoho Desk takes service requests and monitoring alerts as tickets tied to the site and equipment, Zoho FSM schedules maintenance and cleaning visits, and contract renewal dates trigger reminders well before they lapse.
Will the setup keep us compliant with California solar sales rules?
The system can store and enforce what your counsel asks for, such as the signed disclosure document, signing dates and cancel-by dates, and block install scheduling until they are in place. Deciding what the rules require stays with your compliance lead and attorney.
How long does a Zoho rollout take for a solar company?
It depends on your segment, the number of crews and states, how many tools you are leaving and which package you pick. The signed BRD includes a delivery schedule with a date for each phase, so you know your go-live before we begin.
What is SI?
SI stands for super intelligence. In September 2026 a US executive order asked federal agencies to use “super intelligence” or “SI” in place of “artificial intelligence” in official communications. Most businesses still say AI, so we use both terms.
